Whitley Croft was built by the owners of the neighbouring Whitley House for family who had lived in Africa during the War, hence the colonial style of the architecture. A sweeping drive, with pretty, established flowering shrubs alongside, leads to the bungalow, which lies amidst mature gardens of approximately a third of an acre, surrounded by farmland and with superb panoramic views.
The accommodation is very well presented in a sympathetic style, with a modern kitchen and bathroom, uPVC double glazing and oil fired central heating. Opposite the bungalow, there is a coach house, which currently comprises a stable, restored with original hayrack and trough, a small workshop and a garage. This building has had building regulation approval for conversion to provide two bedroom, ancillary (annexe) accommodation to the bungalow, Plan Number 13/0678/BR, which lapsed in 2017.
Whilst lying in pleasant rural location with woodland walks and rides nearby, the cathedral city of Exeter can be quickly accessed via the B3181 main road and is a quick commute, about twenty minutes by car. The village of Clyst Hydon is just over two miles from the bungalow, with a popular primary school, cricket club and recreation field, local inn, The Five Bells, church and village hall. Plymtree, about 1.5 miles, also has a good range of local services including a popular community run village shop, pub and post office. Cullompton lies approximately three miles away and has a full range of services including supermarkets, schools and recreation provision.
