Services from Seddons Financial

Estate Planning

Tax and Estate Planning are not regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Seddons Financial are completely independent and therefore able to provide advice on all areas of Inheritance Tax Planning including protection, trusts and investment solutions that best meets your needs.

Inheritance Tax is potentially payable both on gifts made during your lifetime and also assets passing at death. The main exception is assets passing between husband and wife or registered civil partners, whether during life or after death. This exemption, however will generally only defer, rather than eliminate, the eventual tax bill.

Everyone is entitled to give away a certain amount of assets free of inheritance tax. This is called the nil-rate band and it generally rises each year in line with inflation. Any assets above this limit attract inheritance tax.

We will provide guidance of ways to mitigate inheritance tax, including:

  • Lifetime Gifts
  • Protection based solutions using trusts
  • Investment based solutions using trusts

All information is based upon our current understanding of legislation and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) practice both of which are subject to change.
